Women and War Series Kicks Off
RLT’s Women and War series explores the experiences of women at home and in combat during times of war. To accompany A Piece of My Heart, which is set during the Vietnam War, Downrange: Voices on the Homefront and Grounded look at the current experience of military service. These plays are accompanied by a series of special events including a panel discussion, a reading from a local author, and a narrative writing workshop for military families. Read more about the events on pages for each production, and about the overall series in Byron Woods’ article for Indy Week.
To kick off the series, RLT hosted a reception for legislators sponsored by McGuireWoods, L.L.C.. Thanks to Senator Danny Britt, Senator Jay Chaudhuri and Representative Grier Martin for attending and making remarks.
This project is supported by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources. Also supported by a grant from the Paul Green Foundation, Inc. Serving the Arts and Human Rights since 1982. A Piece of My Heart is part of the American Red Cross Eastern North Carolina Region’s 100th anniversary celebration.
