Theatre for the Very Young

All Smiles

September 4 - 15, 2024

Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre (General Admission)

How do you smile? With your mouth or with your eyes? Does it show on your face or just on the inside? We all have different ways of showing, sharing and processing our emotions. In RLT’s first Theatre for the Very Young (TVY) production, this delightful show explores how all smiles are unique.

Created by Alliance Theatre

Directed by Terra Hodge

ALL SMILES is produced through special arrangement with the Alliance Theatre, a division of the Robert W. Woodruff Arts Center, Inc., 1280 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30309.

What is Theatre for the Very Young?

Theatre for the Very Young (TVY) is theatre designed for ages zero through five to support their cognitive development. It is largely, if not entirely, non-verbal and very interactive. The purpose of TVY is to support our youngest audience members in engaging with creative play, introducing them to narrative storytelling, and exploring social and emotional learning in a fun and approachable way. TVY is designed to be sensory friendly and an open space for movement, vocalization, and exploration!

This production is especially catered toward ages two – five years old, developing their language and communication skills. All Smiles is about how we express our emotions through our faces, bodies, and tones, as well as how we respond to other people’s emotions. Through music, movement, and drawing, audience members will join our actors on an adventure to create and share smiles through silliness and art! In moments of joy, you are invited to share in the laughter, and when the characters feel hard emotions like sadness or disappointment, you are invited to help us come up with what to do and how to be a good friend.
