It’s Giving Tuesday!

11/29/2022

Today is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since its beginning, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity! Read on to see how you can support RLT on this important day of giving.

As many of you may know, Raleigh Little Theatre’s Artistic Director Patrick Torres will be leaving RLT to join Creative Action in Austin, Texas as their next Executive Director. Since coming to RLT in 2014, Patrick has made significant contributions to RLT and the entire Triangle theatre community. These contributions have been focused on creating more inclusive and welcoming spaces in theatre, as well as raising up stories about experiences and cultures that are underrepresented. He has also directed many amazing shows including The Whipping Man, When She Had Wings, Perfect Arrangement, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and In the Heights, just to name a few.

This Giving Tuesday, RLT would love to know which of Patrick’s shows were your favorites, whether you saw them as an audience member, performed as an actor, worked backstage, or however you engaged with the production! Vote for your favorite from a selection of 11 of Patrick’s most memorable shows on our Giving Tuesday BidPal page. Every dollar of your donation equals one vote for your favorite Patrick-directed show!

At the end of the day, the show with the most votes (largest amount donated) will be the source material for an improvised two-minute reenactment of the story by none other than Patrick Torres and RLT’s Executive Director Heather Strickland! A video of the sure-to-be-hilarious performance will be shared on RLT’s social media channels in the days following Giving Tuesday. You won’t want to miss it!

We have a lofty goal of raising $10,000 today, and we hope you will help us get there by making sure your favorite show stays at the top of the leaderboard! Check our social media pages and BidPal for updates throughout the day.

All the ways you can donate today for Giving Tuesday:

  • Vote directly for your favorite Patrick-directed show on BidPal
  • Donate on RLT’s website (If you’d like your donation to count as a vote, there is a comment box where you can write in your favorite show!)
  • Donate or host your own fundraiser on Facebook – comment with your favorite show!
  • Make a gift by calling 919-821-4579 x 230
  • Bring a check to the theatre at 301 Pogue Street

Thank you in advance for any amount that you are able to give. RLT is so thankful for this amazing community, and we are excited to celebrate Patrick Torres and the RLT community alongside all of you!
