Our box office hours have changed! We're happy to assist you Monday - Friday from 12-4pm (Mon-Thurs in-person, Fri phone & email only) →

Workshops for the 21-22 season are currently unavailable. We hope to offer these opportunities again in the future!

Workshop experiences are single visit theatre experiences facilitated by RLT’s professional teaching artists in your classroom.

Stories Alive!

Grades: PreK-5
Number of sessions: 1
Cost: $80/classroom

In this one hour workshop, students will participate in theatre exercises designed to sharpen skills every actor needs. A check in or introduction exercise invites students to think outside the box and engage their imaginations. Warm up exercises help loosen the body and tighten (focus) the brain. Movement exercises help young actors learn to communicate with their bodies. Vocal exercises teach students that the tone of their voices says more than the words themselves. Students then activate a story by embodying the characters, interacting with one another and the facilitator within the imagined world of the story.

Teachers may choose from a variety of stories representing different cultures, supporting important character traits or expanding the students understanding of a school topic. Stories Alive! may be facilitated as a single workshop or a multi-session residency according to the goals of the classroom.

NC Essential Standards: Theatre Arts C.1.1, C.1.2

Note: Funding is available for this workshop through the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County Artists in Schools Program.

Words Words Words – Activating Shakespeare
