Auditions: What We’re Up Against

Raleigh Little Theatre will be holding auditions for What We’re Up Against on Monday, November 13 and Tuesday, November 14 with call backs on Wednesday, November 15. The production will be directed by Heather J. Strickland.

Please note: Raleigh Little Theatre is a Community Theatre and actors serve as volunteers.

Important dates

Auditions: Monday, November 13 and Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00pm in the Sutton Theatre. Registration from 6:30pm.
Callbacks: Wednesday, November 15 starting at 6:30pm 7:00pm in the Sutton Theatre.
First cast meeting: Monday, November 27
No conflicts after: December 11, 2017. No more than 5 conflicts for the entire duration of the rehearsal process.

Preview: Thursday, January 11
Opening: Friday, January 12
Performances: January 12 – January 28
Strike: January 28 following the 3:00pm show. All actors are expected to participate in strike.

About the show

Set in a highly competitive architecture firm, What We’re Up Against takes an explosive look at the complicated battle of the sexes raging across Cubicle Land. A funny yet insightful view of what it means to be female in a male-dominated career and one woman’s response when she tires of slamming into the glass ceiling. (from Samuel French)

About the roles

Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition for all roles.

ELIZA (30s to 40s) — Driven, talented new recruit at an architecture firm that struggles to get a foothold at her new firm.

JANICE (late 20s to 40s) — One of only two female architects at the firm that seems to get along well with male colleagues.

BEN (30s to 40s) — Architect with experience and promising career that is focused on solving a structural issue for a significant client.

STU (Over 40) — Firm’s manager that has worked in the industry for some time. Drinks a lot and set in his ways of how things should be.

WEBER (20s to 30s) — “Golden boy” new hire who gets favorable treatment at the firm.

About the auditions

Please prepare a monologue no longer than one minute in length to perform for the general auditions. Please avoid performing monologues from Shakespearean, Greek, or any classic plays written in verse.

The callback list will be posted on the RLT website by Noon on Wednesday, November 15.

Callbacks will be Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00pm in Sutton Theatre and will involve readings from the script.
