About the show

DIVAS! is RLT’s most successful fundraising event. 2020 will be our 14th year. It is a one night only concert style performance by twelve of RLT’s finest performers. It is a fundraiser, so there will be training sessions and helpful guides on how to be a successful fundraiser. The idea is to get everyone in the world that you know, to donate to RLT in your name. Fundraising will start once we announce the cast and at the end of the one-night-only performance, whichever DIVA has raised the most money will be crowned RLT DIVA! 2020. You will receive a huge beautiful crown, flowers, a gift basket and RLT’s undying gratitude.

About the roles

DIVAS! is open to performers of all genders 18 years of age and up. There are 12 Diva slots available. All Divas have the opportunity to sing two Broadway/Cabaret style songs as well as participate in group numbers. Our theme this year is the same as that of RLT’s Season theme, Now/Then. So flexibility and willingness to experience new styles of music will be important. A good sense of humor and an open mind are a necessity. The Divas are expected to fundraise, but no fundraising skills are necessary…we will train you and help you be a dynamic FUN-draising Diva!

About the auditions

Please sign up for an audition slot on our SignupGenius page.

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a Broadway/Cabaret style song. Preferably one from a musical produced between 1930-1960. PLEASE NO POP, DISNEY or MOVIE songs. Please bring sheet music in the right key. An accompanist will be provided by the theatre. Please do not perform a cappella unless that is how the song you will perform was originally written. You will be asked to sing something with accompaniment even if you sing a cappella.

You will also have a short interview with the DIVAS! Committee about why you would like to be considered to be a Diva, what RLT means to you and what fundraising experience you might have – not necessary to be cast, but good to know.

The cast list will be posted on the RLT website on Friday, February 7, 2020.
