Auditions: Mad Libs Live!

Raleigh Little Theatre is seeking performers for its upcoming production of Mad Libs Live! This show will be presented in the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre.
About the show
In Mad Libs Live!, our story begins at the finals of Teen Superstars, the live TV show that will determine the most popular singing group at Blankville Central High. Virtuosa, Gogo, Geyser, and Merrily seem to have nothing in common – until just before airtime, when they realize that their songs are missing words! In the spirit of the “World’s Greatest Word Game,” our gang fills in the blanks with words from the audience. This truly interactive musical changes at every performance – thanks to you! Who will be the next Teen Superstars? There is only one way to find out: Mad Libs Live!
Music by Jeff Thomson
Book and Lyrics by Robin Rothstein
Directed and Choreographed by Amy & Bryan Pridgen
MAD LIBS LIVE! is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. www.concordtheatricals.com

About the roles
Raleigh Little Theatre encourages actors of any ethnicity, identity, ability, etc. to audition for any role. If the script requires strict adherence to any characteristic(s), those will be listed in the character description. For this production, performers must be 15+. Actors must be able to play the ages listed for the characters below, but do not necessarily need to be the exact age of the character.
MERRILY – Age: 16. Empathic, cheerful, smart, but lacks confidence. Soprano
VIRTUOSA – Age: 16. Self-involved, desperate for fame. GOGO is her older brother. Think Lea Michele in “Glee.” Mezzo-Soprano
GEYSER/DYLAN – Age: 15. The “new kid.” Quirky, into video games, sci-fi and outer space. As “Dylan”: Age: 16. The lead singer of No Direction. Massive ego. He stole away GOGO’s girlfriend, Lindsey. Bari-Tenor
GOGO – 17. Active, athletic. Exhibits leadership qualities, but can be overly competitive. VIRTUOSA is his younger sister. Bari-Tenor
RYAN SEABLANK – The M.C. for the evening. This character’s lines may be voiced over and recorded separately from the performances. No singing in this role.
About the auditions
Click here to sign up for an audition day!
Please prepare 16 bars of a pop or musical theatre song. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring a copy of your music. After each auditionee sings, the group from that time block will do an improv session together. Please wear clothes that are comfortable to move in.
All auditionees should arrive ten minutes before the time they are signed up to help with check in. There are TWO general audition days. You need only attend ONE.
Auditionees are encouraged to listen to the album from the original cast, which is available from Spotify at this link.
Please fill out the following paperwork to bring with you to the auditions:
In addition to the paperwork, please email Cari@nullRaleighLittleTheatre.org with a recent picture of yourself by 4pm on Monday, July 21. The purpose of the picture is to help the director remember your amazing performance during auditions, so an informal picture is ideal, as long as it shows who you are and is recent.
