Announcing RLT’s Second Stage Series

08/01/2025

Raleigh Little Theatre is thrilled to announce a brand new initiative for the 2025-2026 season: the Second Stage Series.

Through this exciting new series, RLT will produce three staged readings of lesser-known published titles. RLT’s Second Stage will be dedicated to exploring narratives and themes that are not often part of our mainstage programming. We hope these readings will offer an opportunity to engage with bold material that pushes boundaries, explores new perspectives, and broadens the horizons of both our artists and audiences.

RLT’s Second Stage Series is special in its approach to production. Each show will operate on a shorter timeline, with a drastically smaller production budget, giving artists the chance to get involved in a low-stakes environment. This model encourages creative freedom and experimentation, allowing artists to take risks and explore their craft without the pressure of a large-scale production. It’s the perfect space for actors and directors to collaborate, experiment, and grow together in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Each reading will focus on creating intimate, engaging experiences that highlight the power of storytelling without the need for elaborate sets and costumes.

The three titles included in the 2025-2026 Second Stage Series are:

  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear
    • By Lauren Gunderson
    • Directed by Mikki Marvel
    • Performances: August 23 & 24, 2025
  • The White Chip
    • By Sean Daniels
    • Director TBA
    • Performances: March 7 & 8, 2026
  • Gloria
    • By Branden Jacob-Jenkins
    • Directed by Emma Clements
