Rose Garden Stormwater Improvements Project

10/05/2020

Status of construction in the Rose Garden on May 6, 2020

Update: As of October 2020, the construction is complete, the new bio-retention area has been planted, and Rose Garden rentals have resumed. Although the Rose Garden and RLT’s outdoor campus is still open to the public, please do not venture into areas that are marked as closed for public use or into the bio-retention area. Please maintain proper social distancing from other visitors if you do visit the garden.

In March 2020, the City of Raleigh will initiate stormwater improvements construction in the Rose Garden. Construction will continue into Summer 2020.

During construction, a large section of the Rose Garden will be closed for public use, including the area between the theater building and the Rose Garden as well as the areas around the fountain and behind the arbor. It is anticipated that other areas of the garden should remain open to the public, including the amphitheater and shelter area.

Due to the nature of the project, Rose Garden rentals, which are coordinated by RLT, will be suspended until further notice. We will update the Rose Garden page on our website and the Rose Garden Facebook page as we learn more. We recommend JC Raulston Arboretum as an alternate venue for rentals in the meantime. You can see a full list of rental & special event venues here.
