Kyma Lassiter


Born and raised in rural South Hill, Virginia, Kyma has now called Raleigh her permanent home for the past 5 years. Before joining the NC African American Heritage Commission in 2018, she served her community as an arts administrator and program coordinator for local non-profit organizations such as the African American Cultural Festival of Raleigh and Wake County and the Bull City Black Theatre Festival. With a strong background in the performing arts, Kyma studied Theatre Arts and Africana Studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Kyma is also a theatre artist who has performed with multiple regional theatre companies in North Carolina and has traveled with national tours performing throughout the country.
