About the show

West Side Story is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet where the play is transported to modern-day New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the “American” Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas ever written.

Raleigh Little Theatre and The Raleigh Symphony Orchestra formed a new partnership this year to bring an outdoor music series to Raleigh. Actors in this production will backed by a 40-piece orchestra as they sing through the incredible score of this incredible musical.
