Raleigh Little Theatre's Holiday Classic, Cinderella, Opens December 9th with New Costumes & New Faces!

IN BRIEF

Raleigh Little Theatre's 22nd annual holiday musical production of Cinderella, will open at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts' A.J. Fletcher Opera Theatre on Friday, December 9 @ 7:30 pm in this hilarious rendering of the timeless tale of a beautiful young woman whose love is redeemed by a glass slipper.  This year's production features several new costumes for key roles including the Stepsisters, the Wicked Stepmother, the Fairy Godmother, the Fairy Godmother's Helpers, King Darling and Prince Charming.  Even Cinderella, herself, is getting new sparkles and shimmer on her famous ice-blue ball gown.

In addition, this year's production features new cast members in the role of King Darling, Prince Charming, the Wicked Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother.  Many of the 22-member Ensemble are also new to the show this year.  RLT's Jo Brown, who had appeared in the all the previous 21 productions as either the Wicked Stepmother or the Fairy Godmother retired after last year's production ended.  Instead, she is serving as the "Style Coach" to a new breed of cast members in the areas of hair, makeup and movement for the ballroom scene and others throughout the musical.

Raleigh's Suzanna Dupree is returning for her second year in the title role of Cinderella and the team of M. Dennis Poole and Timothy Cherry are returning for their eighth straight year as the ugliest Stepsisters in the kingdom, Gertrude and Henrietta.

Performed downtown at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts' A. J. Fletcher Opera Theater, this production is sponsored by Coastal Federal Credit Union, Lynch & Howard, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Progress Energy, Empire Properties and The News & Observer.  Tickets to this family favorite are already on sale.  They can be purchased only from the RLT Box Office at 919.821.3111 or by visiting RLT's Web site at www.raleighlittletheatre.org.

Last year's production was a sellout run and the RLT box office reports that ticket sales are 25% ahead of where they were this time last year.  They are encouraging people not to wait until the last moment to purchase tickets or to assume that they will be available at the door.  "Call first or check the web site before heading downtown if you can't purchase ahead of time" is their advice.

Tickets are $25 for orchestra seating and $15 for balcony.  All seats are reserved seating. Raleigh Little Theatre is located at 301 Pogue Street (2 blocks off Hillsborough Street), Raleigh, 27607. Box Office: 919-821-3111 / www.raleighlittletheatre.org.
