Travel dates will also be arranged between the prize winner and Maupin Travel.

Only 600 tickets will be sold.  Tickets are $50 each or 6/$250. The Drawing Date is Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at a “Meet-the-Cast-of-Candide” reception and silent auction

Tickets may be purchased from any RLT Board Member, by calling 919.821.4579, ext. 234 or online at http://www.rltvolunteers.org/othernews/travelraffle.html. Tickets, while available, will also be on sale during upcoming performances of Wit, James and the Giant Peach, Filthy Rich and Twelfth Night.

IN DETAIL

The “Win a Dream Vacation” $5,000 package is good for two people and it includes a great deal of flexibility for the winner!  The winner gets to choose from one of three locations:  Maui, Hawaii; Edinburgh, Scotland; or Athens, Greece.  “In addition to hotel and air, the winner gets to choose when they travel and what they build into the vacation as part of that package with everything from theatre tickets, golf or tours of historic sites available to choose from,” says RLT Managing Director, Cate Foltin.  “It’s a great way to decide how much or how little you do on your vacation. Plus, Maupin Travel will make it easy for the winner by handling all of their travel arrangements for them.”

In general, the packages are good for one week’s stay at each location, depending on travel dates and other options the winner builds into their vacation.

Only 600 tickets will be sold and raffle tickets are $50 each or 6/$250.  All the proceeds benefit RLT’s year round programs and operations, including the costs of producing 11 productions as well as youth classes and camps.  In addition to being entered into the drawing for the vacation package, each raffle ticket purchase comes with tickets to RLT’s production of Twelfth Night in May 2006 and a “Meet-the-Cast-of-Candide” reception and silent auction on June 14, 2006.

Why a travel raffle?  “RLT’s current season is traveling the globe in terms of story locales,” says Foltin, “we thought that it made a good fit with our season. Travel the world from either a comfortable seat in the theatre or to a locale that you have always dreamed of visiting.”

All three locations offer great theatre in addition to other attractions and that made these locales interesting to RLT.  “When we polled people at the theatre about where they would go on a vacation if they could, these were the top three responses.”

Here are just some of the options available to the winner:

Maui - Few can resist the warm, clear waters and forever blue skies of Maui. Soak up the rays on white sandy beaches that straddle large, shady parks. When the wind is blowing, see a rainbow of colors from the sails of world-class windsurfers at Hookipa Beach. Take a leisurely drive through Hana, a small town with a big attraction: the Seven Sacred Pools. Devote some time to driving to Mount Haleakala where sunsets surpass your wildest expectations. Plan a visit to the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului; the performing arts are alive and well on this island. The MACC remains the island's most prestigious entertainment venue, a first-class center for the visual and performing arts.  The center is as precious to Maui as the Met is to New York, with a visual-arts gallery, an outdoor amphitheater, offices, rehearsal space, a 300-seat theater for experimental performances, and a 1,200-seat main theater.  Or, is golf your thing? Then, in some circles, Maui is synonymous with golf. The island's world-famous golf courses start at the very northern tip of the island and roll right around to Kaanapali, jumping down to Kihei and Wailea in the south.

Edinburgh, Scotland - Edinburgh Castle perched high on its volcanic rock looks down on a city where medieval lanes and elegant, sweeping terraces hold over ten centuries of history, mystery and tradition. Yet Edinburgh is also a modern, dynamic capital city where festivals attract the world's leading performers, galleries display cutting-edge art, and bars, restaurants and clubs create a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a distinctly Scottish twist. Time your trip to enjoy the world famous Fringe Theatre Festival or, for you golf enthusiasts, enjoy 18-holes on one of Scotland’s incredible courses.

Athens, Greece - Greece is a fantastic blend of east and west with its street vendors and colorful markets that are reminiscent of Turkish bazaars while crumbling neoclassical mansions look back to the city's brief heyday as the "Paris of the Mediterranean.” Be sure to visit The Acropolis, crowned by the Parthenon.  It stands sentinel over Athens and is visible from almost everywhere in the city. Nestled into the north-eastern slope of the Acropolis is the old village of Plaka. Mykonos is the most expensive and heavily visited of all Greek islands. It has the most sophisticated nightlife, chic shops, and superb beaches. Whether you chose to relax or explore, there's something for everyone in the Greek Isles.
