BEFRIENDING THE BARD

Sundays, Jan 29-March 5th
6:30-8:30pm

Have you ever wanted to work with Shakespeare but just thought that the challenge was too much? The theatre community loves to produce Shakespeare's plays for the great stories and complex roles and this class will help you to feel prepared and confident to audition for any of them. Class work will focus on language, character and physicality. Each student will work on a variety of speeches and scenes and leave with a well prepared Shakespearean monologue. Students of all levels (even none) are invited to participate. Please come to class with a three ring notebook and wear comfortable clothing. Limit 12 students.

SCENE PAINTING WORKSHOP

Sunday January 8th
6:00-9:00pm

How does a scene painter make a piece of wood look like marble? Join this hands on workshop and learn several faux painting techniques including wood graining, stone and marble. Wear appropriate clothing as one thing is sure you WILL get paint on you!

Limit 8 students.
Instructor:  Scenic Designer, Rick Young
Cost:  $45.00

STAGE COMBAT WORKSHOP

Sundays, Jan 15 and Jan 22
2:00-6:00pm

This class will focus on the basics and fundamentals of stage violence from the actor's perspective. Subjects covered will include safety, body awareness, partner relationships, and hand to hand combat including slaps, punches, pushes, pulls, kicks, hand stomps and eye gouges. This class will culminate in a final staged violent act incorporating several of the techniques learned in class. Tennis shoes and comfortable clothing is a must.
