The Story

By Tracey Scott Wilson

September 9 - 25, 2005

The StoryRLT will be donating all proceeds from the opening performance on Friday, September 9th to the American Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

African-American playwright Tracey Scott Wilson’s award-winning tale of journalistic ambition is a fast-paced tale of media integrity, race relations and newsroom politics. A white inner-city school teacher has been murdered. Yvonne, a young African-American reporter just hired by The Daily, is anxious to rise in the ranks at the paper. After a white man’s murder on the “wrong” side of town, she stumbles upon what appears to be a lead that will solve the case and boost her career. When her credentials come under scrutiny, the plot takes a ripped-from-the-headlines turn, blurring fact and fiction, morality and ambition. Contains adult language.
