Phyllis Parish


Phyllis is Director of Local Production for WRAL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh. She was chosen Employee of the Year by her colleagues in 1990 and honored with WRAL’s prestigious 5 Star Award. Phyllis has been awarded the national Gracie Allen Award for her TV production on NC’s obesity epidemic. She also has achieved seven Mid-South Regional Emmy Awards for other local programs she wrote and produced, including an ongoing broadcast series that encourages children to share stories, to sing, dance, and embrace the arts as a family. Phyllis graduated with honors from Barton College. In 2008, Barton’s Department of Communications and Performing Arts named its Broadcasting Control Room in honor of Phyllis. In 2011, she was honored with Barton College’s Alumna of the Year award. Phyllis and her husband, Seab Howard, reside in Raleigh and are active members of Hillyer Memorial Christian Church. Phyllis is also a twenty-year volunteer with Wake County’s Meals on Wheels.
