The classes below are sorted by start date Play On!Class focus: Students will continue to explore story dramatization but with more emphasis on group work and improvisation. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students. Cost: $95 per session Tuesday Session II: Fairytale Trials Tuesday Session III: Prop Bag Theatre Tuesday Session IV: Let's Make A Play! To enroll, please send in the registration form (PDF) RLT Children's Chorus FALL CLASS CANCELLEDAges: 8 - 12 In this performance class students will polish their singing skills as they blend their voices into an exciting children's chorus which will take the joy of singing out into the community. Students need to bring 16 bars of sheet music in the appropriate key of a musical theatre style song. If they cannot find this, then they need to prepare a small portion of a song to be sung a capella. Entrance is by audition only. Limit 12 students. Cost: $135 per session Thursdays, 5 - 6:15 pm Fall Session CANCELLED Audition: September 4, 5 - 6:15 pm Spring Session Audition: January 15, 5 - 6:15 pm Instructor: Mary Kathryn Walston Entry is by audition. Once accepted, you will need to send in the registration form (PDF) RLT PlayersAges: 9 - 12 Actors will learn bold choice making and teamwork, all while exploring scripted material. Each session will end in a bare bones production! It is recommended that students bring a one minute monologue or poem to auditions, and be prepared to do movement, vocal work and improvisation. Cost: $190 per session Session I The Ever After by Nathan Hartswick A cheesy talk show host invites traditional fairy tale characters who have been estranged for 20 years to reconcile on live television, asking the question, "Can't we all just get along?" Auditions: Tuesday, September 2, 5 - 6:30 pm Instructor: Staci Sabarsky To enroll, please send in the registration form (PDF) Session II Poets, Fools and Clowns - A Taste of Shakespeare Students will explore comedy, improvisation, movement and learn how to be a clown while traveling through some of Shakespeare's funniest and most exciting comedies. Whether it's mixed-up twins, moonstruck poets or lost and angry bears, Shakespeare is as funny today as he ever was. Laugh out loud while discovering one of the world's greatest writers. Auditions: Tuesday, January 13, 5 - 6:30 pm Instructor: Lucius Robinson To enroll, please send in the registration form (PDF) Access Theatre Now!Ages: 7 and up This class gives students with physical, emotional, learning and developmental disabilities an opportunity to gain self-esteem, improve social and communication skills and explore new modes of self-expression - all in a non-competitive, structured atmosphere. This session will culminate in an open classroom highlighting the individual talents of all involved. Support staff is welcome. No previous experience necessary. Limit 12 students. The Ins and Outs of a Cold Reading Audition SPACE AVAILABLE IN SESSION 1Ages: 8 - 12 Have you ever gone to an audition and not really known what to do or what was expected of you? Relax... In this workshop students will learn how to prepare for auditions (such as RLT's Cinderella in October and Wiley and the Hairy Man in January), the art of the cold reading, professional behavior and personal appearance for the audition. Auditioning for Musical Theatre Workshop SESSION I FULLAges: 8 - 12 Learn what it takes to be successful at auditioning for musical theatre! RLT has an upcoming audition for Cinderella in October and this workshop is sure to help. Students will learn how to find the best 16 bars to use at auditions and how to sell their song as both singers and actors. Please bring sheet music if there is a specific song that you would like to work on. They will also learn how to choose appropriate monologues and become skilled at delivering them. No previous experience necessary. Limit 12 students. Ages: 9 - 12 Want to write your very own plays? Students will explore movement, music, improvisation, theatre games and creative writing as they create a one of a kind script that they will bring to life on the stage! Each student will finish class with a book illustrating their work. No previous experience necessary but a lively imagination is a must. Limit 18 students.
