Most of our classes focus on the process of creating theatre through fun, imaginative, nurturing, creative play and ensemble building. Some of our classes for the seasoned student are geared more toward performance. Teens can focus on a broad selection of disciplines, such as scene study, musical theatre, improvisation, make-up artistry, dance or Shakespeare. Each session of classes culminates in an Open Classroom to give parents and friends a taste of the participants’ everyday experience in the program.

Access Theatre Now! SESSION 3 CANCELLED

Ages: 7 and up

This class gives students with physical, emotional, learning and developmental disabilities an opportunity to gain self-esteem, improve social and communication skills and explore new modes of self-expression – all in a non-competitive, structured atmosphere. This session will culminate in an open classroom highlighting the individual talents of all involved. Support staff is welcome. No previous experience necessary. Limit 12 students.

Cost:

$90 for sessions I, III and IV - 7 instructional hours
$50 for session II - 4 instructional hours

Tuesdays , 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Session III: January 19 – March 3
Session IV: March 16 – May 4 (no class March 30)

Performance Skils

Ages: 14 – 18

Class focus: Through scripted or improvised material, students pursue a more intensive study of the craft of acting. Each session is designed to target the development of a particular skill. No previous experience necessary. Limit 14 students.

Saturdays, 12:30 – 2:30 PM

Cost: 

$140 for sessions I, III and IV - 14 instructional hours
$80 for session II - 8 instructional hours

Session III: CSI Theatre
January 23 – March 13
Saturdays, 12:30 – 2:30 PM
An actor needs to be an adventurous detective, persistent enough to uncover even the most elusive clues to character and bold enough to make strong choices in order to bring that character to life on stage. In this character-driven improvisation class, students will investigate a variety of sources in order to uncover and develop interesting characters and to create original scenes.

Session IV: Scene Study
March 20 – May 15 (no class March 27 or April 3)
Saturdays, 12:30 – 2:30 PM
Students get the chance to sharpen their acting skills and test their performance abilities under the guidance of a nurturing director. Using Meisner techniques students will rehearse scenes with an emphasis on personalizing their roles, developing truthful, believable characters and creating energized “in the moment” connections with their scene partners.
