Teens on Stage (5 weeks)

For ages 13–18

An intensive five week theatre program, TOS culminates in 14 performances of Ozma Of Oz: A Tale In Time, which opens Raleigh Little Theatre’s 73rd season. TOS students take morning conservatory classes which include acting, movement, improvisation and voice. The afternoons are spent in rehearsal.

About the TOS play: Ozma Of Oz: A Tale Of Time by Suzan Zeder is a contemporary original play loosely based upon characters from L. Frank Baum’s Ozma Of Oz. This modern fantasy explores the relationship between a now teenaged Dorothy and her elderly Uncle Henry. On their journey through Oz they encounter a variety of fantasy characters. The play offers plenty of great roles for the young actor.

About the TOS auditions: All candidates must come prepared with a contemporary one minute monologue. Please wear comfortable clothing which allows for movement. Callbacks will consist of cold readings from the script.

Teens Backstage (5 weeks)

For ages 13 –18

Teens Backstage (TBS) students learn by doing as they participate in numerous behind the scenes activities such as building and painting scenery, hanging and focusing lights and fi nding and creating props. Interested candidates are asked to attend a TBS information meeting with Rick Young, TBS Technical Director. Please bring a completed Teens Backstage Interest Sheet (DOC format) to the meeting. If candidate is unable to attend the meeting, call Linda O’Day Young at 821-4579 x235 for an interview. Acceptance by Technical Director required.

TBS Performance Opportunities: With approval by the TBS Technical Director, students in the TBS program will be given the opportunity to work crew for Ozma Of Oz: A Tale In Time. Performances are July 18-27

How To Get The Part (full-day camp)

For ages 14–18

If you want to be an actor, you have to audition! Come join this intensive and fun camp to improve your skills in getting that part. Learn how to fi nd and prepare a monologue, do cold readings, format your resume and make the best impression at an audition. Learn about the “business” of acting, so you can stand out from the crowd. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

Advanced Musical Theatre Conservatory

For ages 13–18

Two week intensive camp with an emphasis on acting and singing for musical theatre. Camp will culminate in a bare-bones musical presentation. For auditions, students should prepare a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song (please bring sheet music). If candidate has a conflict with the audition date, please call Kathleen at 821-4579 x225 to schedule an alternate audition time. Limit 20 students.

Auditions: March 8, 11am, in the Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre
Camp Dates: July 28 – August 8, 1–6pm

Cost: $350

Make A Scene (Holly Springs)

For ages 14 –18

Journey through a variety of theatre disciplines while exploring vocal production, basic dialect work, physical theatre, character and text analysis, memorization skills, scene study technique and methods for creating original performance material. Students will create an original piece to be shared with family and friends. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

“OurSpace” Teen Ensemble (evenings)

For ages 16–19

For three hours each night, teens can claim the theatre as “OurSpace.” In a non-threatening and nurturing environment, students will use published and original material, theatre exercises, improvisation, music, art and poetry in order to explore their opinions and their feelings about themselves, relationships, school, parents, society and their place in the world. The camp will culminate in the performance of an original piece through which their voices can be heard. Limit 15 students.

August 11–15
