Theatre Arts Camp (full-day camp)

For ages 6–12

Have fun! Make friends! Exercise your imagination as you play and learn! Act out a story, sing a song, dance to the music, become a mime and create a masterpiece all in one week! Each day begins with a large group activity of theatre games. Then smaller groups will attend daily workshops in acting, singing, art and dance. Students will be placed into groups of 15 according to age. Just bring your lunch, two snacks, your imagination and a willingness to give it a try! Sign up for one or both camps – content and instructors will vary! No previous experience necessary. Limit 60 students.

June 14–18, 9am–4pm
Instructors: Barbette Hunter, Yvonne Koch, Jan Morgan and Alison Williams

Session 2:
August 2–6, 9am–4pm
Instructors: Lawson Bennett, Patsy Castellano, Katie Gentry and Johannah Maynard

RLT Players (Apex)

For ages 10–13

Let’s act it out! Actors will learn bold choice-making and teamwork and all the ins and outs of putting on a black box production of fun scripted material. Please bring a healthy snack, water and a sweatshirt. There will be an Open Classroom for family and friends on Friday at 12 noon. No previous experience necessary. Raleigh Little Theatre instructs. Limited to 14 participants.

June 21–25, 10am–1pm

Kids on Stage (Apex)

For ages 9–12

Do you like to sing? Then this camp is for you! Students will learn the skills needed to bring the mini-musical – Welcome to the Jungle – to life on the stage. Please bring lunch, water and a sweatshirt. There will be an Open Classroom for family and friends on Friday at 1pm. No previous experience necessary. Raleigh Little Theatre instructs. Limited to 12 participants.

July 12–16, 10am–2pm

Location: Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 North Salem Street, Apex NC

Kids on Stage (half-day two-week camp)

For ages 9–12

Working with a professional staff, students will learn what it takes to be a part of a musical theatre ensemble as they rehearse Dear Edwina Junior. This story follows the adventures of advice-giver extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in hilarious production numbers for her “Advice-A-Palooza” extravaganza. A performance will take place for invited friends and family on the last day of camp at 5:15pm. Please bring a healthy snack and water. No previous experience necessary. Limit 20 students.

Note: This is a two-week camp.

July 19–30, 12:30–5:30pm

From The Page To The Stage! (full-day camp)

For ages 12–13

Students will explore movement, music, improvisation, theatre games and creative writing as they create a one of a kind script that they will bring to life on the stage. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

July 26–30, 9am–4pm

RLT Players Plus! (full-day camp)

For ages 9–12

This camp combines two important theatre arts disciplines into one exciting week: rehearsal skills and improvisation. In the mornings students will learn all the ins-and-outs of putting on a bare bones production of fun scripted material. In the afternoons they will learn how to be spontaneous, trust their instincts and be confident on stage by learning the art of improvisation. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

August 9–13, 9:30am–4pm
Instructors: Anoushka Brod and Martie Todd Sirois

Cost: $260

Keep 'em Laughing! (full-day camp)

For ages 12–13

Students will explore ways to keep the audience laughing whether it’s through witty banter or as simple as slipping on a banana peel. In the mornings students will learn to create characters and tell stories that are dynamic, funny and totally believable through the use of scripted scenes and original material created by the class. In the afternoons students will explore the world of physical comedy as they seek, discover and release the clown within. Students should wear comfortable clothing allowing for movement and closed-toe shoes. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.
