Sing It Out! (half-day camp) FULL

For ages 9-12

Do you like to act? Do you love to sing? Then this camp is for you! Students will learn the skills needed to bring a mini-musical to life on the stage. No previous experience necessary. Limit 12 students.

Session I FULL
June 13-17, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Cuckoo - A bevy of birds are collecting seeds before the Mexican god of fire clears the field. The Cuckoo single-handedly saves the day, but ends up losing her colorful feathers and song. Learn how she is rewarded by her friends, teaching us heroism and kindness.

Session II FULL
August 1-5, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
School Daze - Become a student in this upbeat school as they sing about everyday classes and activities, all presented in humorous vignettes.

Sing It Out (Apex) FULL

For ages 9–13

"Singing and Acting and Dancing, oh my!" Students will learn the skills needed to bring the mini-musical - School Daze - to life on the stage. Please bring lunch and a water bottle. There will be an Open Classroom for family and friends on Friday at 12:45pm. No previous experience necessary. Limited to 12 participants.

RLT Puppetry Players (full-day camp)

For ages 9-12

This camp combines three exciting theatre arts in one week: Puppetry, Playwriting and Acting. Students will learn how to manipulate and breathe life into rod puppets and shadow puppets. Using improvisation they will explore possible puppet plots and puppet characters and write their own puppet play. Finally students will learn and sharpen acting skills as they bring their puppet characters to life for the puppet stage. No previous experience necessary. Limit 14 students.

Stage Door (full-day camp) (Wake Forest) FULL

For ages 9-12

The actor enters the theatre through the stage door but there are quite a few more steps to the stage. In this supportive camp, you can have fun, build confidence and make friends as you learn basic acting and rehearsal skills. In the morning, using scripted scenes, students will explore character development, blocking and vocal projection. In the afternoon, they will participate in improvisation exercises designed to promote group problem solving and encourage spontaneity, both valuable tools in rehearsal and great life skills as well.

Multi-Arts Camp (Apex)

For ages 8–12

Act out a story, sing a song and create a masterpiece all in one week! Students will be placed into small groups according to age and attend daily workshops in acting, singing and art. Please bring a snack and a water bottle. There will be an Open Classroom for family and friends on Friday at 11:45am. No previous experience necessary. Limited to 30 participants.

June 27 - July 1, 9:30am-12:30pm

Apex Players (Apex) FULL

For ages 8–12

Let’s act it out! Actors will learn bold choice-making and teamwork and all the ins and outs of putting on a black box production of a fun script based on that mischievous boy who cried wolf and the sheep who helped him do it! Please bring a healthy snack and a water bottle. There will be an Open Classroom for family and friends on Friday at 11:45am. No previous experience necessary. Limited to 12 participants.

Theatre Arts Camp (full-day camp) SESSION 1 FULL

For ages 6–12

Have fun! Make friends! Exercise your imagination as you play and learn! Act out a story, sing a song, dance to the music, become a mime and create a masterpiece all in one week! Each day begins with a large group activity of theatre games. Then smaller groups will attend daily workshops in acting, singing, art and dance. Students will be placed into smaller groups according to age. Just bring your lunch, two snacks, your imagination and a willingness to give it a try! No previous experience necessary. Limit 66 students.

From The Page To The Stage! (full-day camp) FULL

For ages 12–13

Students will explore movement, music, improvisation, theatre games and creative writing as they create and perform a one of a kind script. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

Kids on Stage (full-day two-week camp) FULL

For ages 10-14

This year's production is Shrek The Musical Jr. In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre Shrek finds his swamp invaded by a host of banished fairytale misfits, runaways who’ve been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task - if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. This fairy tale is full of romance and twists and turns and plenty of fun roles for everyone. A bare-bones performance will take place for invited friends and family on the last day of camp at 4 pm. No previous experience necessary. Limit 25 students.

Note: This is a two-week camp.

August 1-12, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

From The Page To The Stage! (Apex)

For ages 10-14

Students will free their imaginations as they explore a variety of ways to bring the “page” to the “stage.” Improvisation and theatre games will be used to help students construct several unique scripts focusing on Chris Van Allsburg’s captivating picture books. Please bring a healthy snack and a water bottle. There will be an Open Classroom for family and friends on Friday at 11:30am. No previous experience necessary. Limited to 14 participants.

Keep 'em Laughing! (full-day camp)

For ages 12–13

Students will explore ways to keep the audience laughing whether it’s through witty banter or as simple as slipping on a banana peel. In the mornings students will explore the world of physical comedy using improvisation. In the afternoons students will learn to create characters and tell stories that are dynamic, funny and totally believable through the use of scripted scenes and original material created by the class. Students should wear comfortable clothing allowing for movement and closed-toe shoes. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

August 15-19, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Instructors: Edward Freeman and Jacob Timmons
